We celebrated the end of the school year with a group of pupils and staff from Kings Meadow Primary School, Ainsdale and staff from Woodvale Community Centre.
At the start of construction of our Sandy Brook development in early 2021, we asked Kings Meadow Primary School and the young people who attend Woodvale if they would like to compile a range of items to include in a time capsule to capture life in 2021. These included personal recollections, photographs, descriptions of the local area, posters and favourite everyday items.
With works at this development now nearing completion, we recently came back together to bury time capsules containing these memories and items. With a number of pupils now residing within the newly-formed, close community of Sandy Brook, hopefully these will be remembered but remain buried for some time. It’s exciting to think that at some point, they may be discovered and inform future Sandy Brook residents of post-pandemic life and the hopes and dreams of local children for the future.
